Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between students’ habit of watching English movies and vocabulary mastery at the eleventh grade of Senior High School 11 Muaro Jambi. This research used a quantitative correlational design with 81 students as the sample. The data were collected through a questionnaire and a vocabulary test consisting of 20 multiple-choice items. The questionnaire measured students’ habit of watching English movies, while the test assessed their vocabulary mastery. The findings showed that there was a significant positive correlation between students’ habit of watching English movies and their vocabulary mastery (r = 0.578, p < 0.05). This indicates that students who frequently watch English movies tend to have better vocabulary mastery. Furthermore, students’ habit in watching English movies contributed 33.4% to their vocabulary mastery.
